tiger woods apologizing As you no doubt know by now, philandering golf superstar Tiger Woods has apologized to everyone and his dog for sticking his wood into all the wrong holes!

It was all very nice and well of Tiger Woods to apologize to me for humping all those syphilitic skanks, but I was left wondering how Woods ever managed to cheat on me given that piggy doesn’t swing that way and that we live on different continents!

Yet there he is, like a Stepford Husband, meekly and robotically apologizing to millions of people who have nothing to do with his transgressions. This bizarre act of self flagellation is quite simply the modern equivalent of Hawthorne’s Scarlet letter, the main difference being that in Hawthorne’s novel the punishment was reserved for women, and in the 21^st century it’s reserved for men. The way things are, if Oprah cheated on Steadman Graham with the L.A Lakers, not only would she not apologize to the whole world, she probably wouldn’t even apologize to Steadman! Hell, she’d probably do an entire show on how it was his fault!

Tiger Woods, depending on what kind of woman his wife Elin is, may or may not owe her an apology, but the rest of us? No, thank you. This kind of public shaming is not only humiliating for Woods but for all men – it is yet another way to say that everything bad is that much worse when done by a man. It is a symptom of the mindset that sees women get lighter sentences not only in the legal courts but also in the court of public opinion. When a man this famous gives in to this kind of pressure in such a public way, all he is doing is making the situation that much worse, and for that, Tiger Woods, thank you for nothing – and may you be cursed to a lifetime of Swedish wives.
