Misandrist of the Month – Laurie Fendrich

Once in a while one comes across a piece of misandry so vile that one has trouble believing it could be published outside of anything other than the feminist movement’s equivalent of Stormfront. Yet the recipient of this month’s Misandrist Of The Month is a Professor of Fine Arts who had her screed published not by the dimwits in the feminist blogosphere but by The Chronicle of Higher Education, a newspaper which is widely seen as the biggest news outlet for Academia in the United States.

Laurie Fendrich is the writer of “Who Needs Men?”, a vile little document that not only celebrates the apparent uselessness of the human male (though one has trouble believing that  Fendrich would ever put those words  in the same sentence) but also looks forward to our coming extinction.

A sample…

“The real problem is, very simply, the existence of men. What the hell do we need them for anyway? Granted, men are already here in the billions, and eradicating them would be a logistical challenge. And granted, civilization thus far was built mostly by male brainpower and testosterone. Now, building civilization was no mean feat, but it was accompanied by an awful lot of rape, pillage, beheadings, spearings, burnings-at-the-stake, you name it. Not many of those good deeds were performed by women.”

Notice that her only objection to wiping the men out seems to be that it would be a logistical nightmare! Notice also the claim that civilization was built not only by male brain power but also by “testosterone”, which implies that even men’s achievements are something of a negative, being tainted by that most evil of hormones.

As for men having committed most of the violence throughout history, Fendrich does what feminists often do by making it seem as if this has something to do with factors other than men being bigger and stronger and therefore the obvious choice when it comes to acts of war – much as with domestic violence, the human male’s physical superiority is misrepresented as his moral inferiority.

The storm-trooper of stupidity continues…

“But the building phase of civilization is by now more or less complete. …We’ve moved firmly into the maintenance and improvement phase, and it’s time for women to take over. They’ve proved themselves superb at keeping things going whenever men went marching off to kill each other.”

Not only is this passage abhorrent in its ill will towards men, but it is also profoundly stupid. For one thing, women never “kept things going” while men were at war, they simply pitched in to help the men who were too old or too unwell to go to war in keeping things afloat. Women may have done some factory work during WWII but there is a great difference between that and keeping society going. The doctors, the cops, the thinkers, the planners, indeed even most of the workforce during WWII were still mostly men – to claim that women kept things going is to claim that the monkey is in charge of the organ grinder!

The man bashing continues…

“There’s no reason they can’t now be handed the reins of civilization itself.”

Actually there is – the undeniable fact that for a bunch of people who are from babyhood onwards taught to be non-violent, women are capable of an inexplicably large amount of violence. Most societal messages telling us that violence is acceptable, even desirable, are aimed at males, yet women commit most of the serious child abuse and a lesbian is as likely to get beaten senseless by her girlfriend as a straight woman by her boyfriend. These things clearly do not happen because of environmental factors, and that leaves only natural factors, so  putting women in charge of civilization would be a recipe for disaster.

The Obama supporting hatemonger also take shots at husbands, fathers, attempts to help boys in school, expresses a wish for a world with no male children, celebrates the creation of artificial sperm, and looks forward to the day when the remaining men can be put into petting zoos!

So Laurie Fendrich, you worthless piece of sub-human scum, here’s your Silver Pomegranate, please go out into the backyard and use it to beat yourself to death.
