Taking the Grasseating ethos to a whole new level, a Japanese man calling himself Sal9000 has married a cute little woman who can best be described as “Pixels and spice and all things nice.”
Sal’s new bride is Nene Anegasaki, a character in a Nintendo DS dating game by the name of Love Plus. The 27 year old Sal fell so heavily for the pixelled pretty that he flew himself and his Nintendo DS ( which of course is where Nene lives) off to Guam where such things are legal, and proceeded to marry the girl of his digital dreams. The ceremony included a real human priest, a flesh and blood best man , a DJ – in short everything except the signing of the pre-nup.
The whole thing was streamed live on a Japanese website called Nico Nico Douga where some of the commenters expressed displeasure with “how serious this ridiculous ceremony has become” Folks, it’s always serious, and it’s always ridiculous. For the man at least, marriage is nothing more than a French farce which eventually turns a rooster into a feather-duster. I say “congrats” to the happy couple, and hey, if things don’t work out it’s not as if Nene’s going to take his money and his kids after screwing his best friend, is it? No, if things don’t work out Sal9000 can just delete her and start over again, kinda like Liz Taylor did with her husbands.
As for guys replacing real women with fantasy ones, well, who is The Important Sex to complain? They’ve been doing the same thing to men for decades with romance novels and the like, this is just the 21st century male’s digital equivalent. The only thing that worries me about this marriage is that Nene looks rather jail-baitish to me and could therefore land poor old Sal in legal trouble. On the other hand, i suspect Nene just looks really young because she’s Japanese, Asian chicks having a tendency to look like spring chickens till they are well into their thirties.
