Drowning Pool- Soldiers

Now, you may ask what a bunch of long haired Texan yahoos have to do with men’s rights, and the answer of course is very little, except that they are one of Porky’s favorite bands and that it’s safe to say most of their fans are men and boys. Recently ive been listening to this song a lot, and it’s made me think of all the negative feelings many left wingers have towards soldiers, as if all these guys were over there to have fun killing towel-heads while building the new American Empire. Fact is most of these guys are there either because they cant get a better job or because they actually believe they are making the world safer for their loved ones, and so they deserve our support, regardless of whether history proves this war to be a good thing or not (Porky suspects not is the more likely judgement). Porky wonders also if such dark intentions would be attributed to G.Is if most of them were Janes rather than Joes, but that’s another story, so here is the video for “Soldiers”, featuring footage from the band’s concerts in the war zone, and followed by an interview in which they explain why they recorded the song.
